It doesn't matter how much more convenient instant communication can be, the classics still win out. Even if an Instagram photo filter can make you look better, a new study finds that people would rather see a Polaroid picture.
Thomas Cook, a British travel company, surveyed 2,000 people to figure out their communication preferences. The survey's results were interesting, because it seemed like people's opinions didn't match their actions.
Before we look into the study's findings about postcards, let's get one thing straight: A little under half of the people surveyed write by hand every day.
That means that most of their communication is done digitally.
The study found that just over 50% of participants send at least one postcard every year.
The surprising thing, though, was that more than 32% of the survey's respondents send out one or more love letters a year.
Out of all of the questions that the survey asked, however, a third of everyone claim that they keep the love letters that they received over the years.
If you want to give someone a romantic gift that they'll remember, then you'll definitely want to avoid sending quickie texts. Buy a postcard and put pen to paper.
