We've all heard about Google's self-driving cars, but all of that still sounds a little science fiction-y to most people. BMW plans to do something that could be a little easier to implement, and that's to let its cars park themselves by simply tapping your smartwatch.
All you'd have to do to park with this technology is to get out of the car, touch your smartwatch and the car would do the rest. The car would use variety of sensors and laser technology to track any objects that it needs to avoid.
From there, it would find a space and park in it. Now, I know the first question I had about this tech is whether or not I'd need to park in a specialized garage to use it.
According to BMW, the cars wouldn't need to park in specialized garages. The tech will work anywhere. When can you expect this to be included in your next BMW? I'd give it a year at least.
Take a look at this concept video. It shows what the BMW "ActiveAssist" could look like when it's available.
