Movie ticket prices vary by region, but I bet you're spending at least $10 a ticket every time you head out to the theater. That can really add up, especially if you're a movie fan who sees several flicks a month. If that sounds like you, this new deal from AMC Theatres could end up saving you money in the long run.
AMC is partnering with MoviePass to offer film buffs a flat-rate subscription service. The program will let subscribers see one movie every day each month for a flat monthly fee.
The movie theater chain is following in the footsteps of other big-name companies like Olive Garden, which tried out an unlimited pasta subscription this year. Is AMC's subscription worth it? That all depends on the price and how often you visit your local theater.
The price of AMC's new subscription service depends on what types of films you like to see. Standard films will cost you $35 a month. If you want to special features like 3-D and IMAX included in your subscription, you'll have to pay $45 a month.
That's not too expensive if you're going to visit the theater three or four times every month. Depending on ticket prices in your area, the subscription could end up saving you money. Just don't go and blow all of those savings on extra popcorn, soda and candies.
If this deal sounds like a dream come true, don't get too excited yet. AMC is only going to roll out a trial version of the program at select theaters in Denver and Boston. But, if customers seem interested, the company could expand the program next year.
