There's a saying that goes "Don't look a gift horse in the mouth." Just appreciate the gift for what it is. Unfortunately, a lot of the time when you see headlines offering free stuff, it's just bottom-of-the-barrel junk you don't really want or need.

But sometimes, you really can get something good and something you want for absolutely free. Microsoft wants to deliver both with its insanely good giveaway of 100 free albums through the Microsoft Music Deals app for Windows 8 users. You do have to download the app here and sign up for a free account.

You can get top chart albums from artists like Colbie Caillat, The Rolling Stones, Mumford & Sons, Bon Jovi, The Who, U2 and more, completely free. Don't worry, the U2 album won't mysteriously appear on your iPhone or iPod.

There are also other top artists and albums that are dirt cheap, with entire albums starting at $0.99. But this generous offer won't last for very long.

The Microsoft Music Deals sale will run through December 15, 2014, and then you'll be out of luck.

Note: Sadly, this great deal only applies to those that have a Windows Phone or use Windows 8 or 8.1 on their computers.
