If you look at the PaymentsMD website, it seems entirely unassuming. A simple way to make your medical payments, right? In reality, this "payments" website was really a way for the company to trick customers into signing away their privacy.

The site secretly hid legalese under its run-of-the-mill Terms of Service checkboxes. So if you "agreed" to too many things, then you'd have given the company the right to hunt down all of your medical records.

You may have thought that PaymentsMD was just a payments site, but the company just got busted by the FTC for hunting its customers' private medical information.

Whenever you're dealing with an industry that could get hold of your personal information, always be sure to read as much as you can. Be sure to figure out whether agreeing to a company's terms of service isn't a death sentence for your private information.
