It's every mother's nightmare, but thanks to Facebook,  a 13-year-old boy that was missing for four years was able to reunite with his mother after sending a simple friend request on Facebook.

Back in 2010, the boy's father and stepmother allegedly kidnapped and beat him. His mother reported the boy missing to child services, but never filed a police report for some reason.

After years of constant mistreatment and living in a crawl space between an attic, garage and linen closet, the boy began to plot his escape.

He was able to get a hold of a cell phone, but it didn't have a service provider. That's when the boy connected the phone to a Wi-Fi network and sent his mother a friend request on Facebook. After that, he was able to download an app that lets you place calls over Wi-Fi. The escape plan was now in motion.

The mother called police, who paid a visit to the father's house, but they said they had not seen the boy in years. The mother was relentless and called police again. That's when they found the boy hiding behind a fake wall in his crawl space.

The boy is now back with his mother and couldn't be happier:

"This is my mama's Christmas gift—my whole family—this is their Christmas gift."
