Do you ever wonder what your parents were like as kids? Or teenagers? Were they the crazy kids on the block, or the model citizen?
And would you ever want to be friends with them if you grew up at the same time?
One talented Photoshop artist decided that she wanted answers, so she started on an amazing photo journey that you have to see to believe.
Danielle Delph is an art director and artist based in Oregon that was going through photos one day when inspiration struck. "I wondered ... What would it look like if I placed my childhood self next to my mother? Would we have looked like friends? Would I be able to capture the same moments and interactions that real friends share?"
So Danielle began the meticulous process of digging through her mother's childhood photos to match the right ages and times to blend photos together. "I had to have my mom and family friends mail me both her and my old childhood photos, which proved more tricky than expected. We had lost a majority of childhood photos when Hurricane Ivan hit our home in Pensacola, Florida, so there were far less photos to work with than I would have hoped."
When the project was complete, Danielle created a site to host the photos of herself and her mom, Janis, called DanielleandJanis.com on Tumblr.
But I have to say, I am really blown away by her work. What began as a surprise for her mom - spoiler alert, she loved it! - became sort of an ongoing art project. Danielle didn't originally plan to keep this project going, but her mom and family and friends loved it so much that she has a few more pictures planned.
Can you tell the daughter from the mother? Have fun! I sure did.
