Google Hangouts offering free international voice calls

Google Hangouts offering free international voice calls

Getting together with friends and family can be tricky, especially if you're spread out across the world. Calling aunts and uncles or old college roommates across the pond can make for long and expensive phone calls.

Luckily, there's lots of ways you can stay connected. After all, that's what technology is all about.

Google Hangouts lets you place free video calls and domestic voice calls, though it has charged for international calls. But that all changes starting today. Staying connected to those far-away friends and relatives just got cheaper.

Google has announced that with Google Hangouts, you can now make calls to 25 different countries, and the first minute is free.

The deal is only good until the end of the year, but it's still a good deal nonetheless.

Here's the complete list of eligible countries to call from Android Police:

  • Australia
