How easy is it to steal candy from a baby? Apparently it's pretty easy ... unless Skype is involved.
Thanks to Skype, a brand-new grandfather was able to spot a nurse entering his family's hospital room and take $20 out of his son's wallet.
The new parents in Melbourne, Australia, were on a video chat with the new grandfather when they had to step away to help with their newborn son's bath. Grandpa however, stayed on the video chat.
That's when he spotted a nurse enter the couple's room and rummage through their belongings. She opened cabinets and poked around until she found a wallet in a jacket pocket and helped herself to $20.
Naturally when the new parents returned to the room, Grandpa told them what had happened.
"Check your wallet, because I saw a lady come into the room and she opened your wallet and took something red.” he said.
He then later identified the nurse when she returned to the room. She has since been fired and returned the money.
Spokeswoman Colleen Coghlan issued the following statement:
“I’m shocked. I think it was a horrible experience for the patient concerned, and it’s not something that anybody expects to happen when they come in to be cared for in a hospital,” she said.
Coghlan also said that the hospital will be installing security cameras in public areas to prevent things like this from happening again.
