In recent years, it's become a knee-jerk reaction to censor, warn and otherwise be politically correct when putting content up online, or just about anywhere.

Don't believe me? Take a look at the Washington "Redskins" team name scandal.

Amazon is no exception when it comes to being politically correct, but the latest step for censorship has some folks up in arms.

Especially since the industry giant has labeled a beloved children's cartoon as racist.

Users of Amazon Prime noticed that a new addition to the Instant View queue, 'Tom & Jerry: The Complete Second Volume," had a rather interesting disclaimer.

Amazon has added the disclaimer that "'Tom & Jerry' shorts may depict some ethnic and racial prejudices that were once commonplace in American society. Such depictions were wrong then and are wrong today."

Even Whoopi Goldberg has gotten in on the action. There's a small clip of her talking about "Tom and Jerry Spotlight Collection: Volume 2" that's meant as a bonus introduction to the collection.

Whoopi talks about the attitude of the public at the time the cartoons were first created by directors William Hanna and Joseph Barbera, and producer Fred Quimby. The cartoon has come under scrutiny in the past for depictions of blackface and racial stereotypes from the earliest cartoons over 70 years ago.

Tom & Jerry has also come under fire because of the attitudes toward smoking, and the treatment of women in a general sense.

You can see Whoopi's introduction below.
