Dyson's new robo-vacuum is the android servant the Jetsons promised us

Are you ready for the vacuum of the future? Dyson has created a new robo-vac that might just blow the competition out of the water.

Roomba changed the way we clean our floors over a decade ago with its automatic robotic vacuums, but Dyson has taken the technology to the next level with the Eye 360. It's named for its 360-degree camera that lets the vacuum see obstacles and know where it's already cleaned up.

Assisted by a set of infra-red sensors, the 360-degree camera snaps 30 frames per second to create a detailed floor plan of an entire room at once.

That means its a truly automatic vacuum. You don't have to keep checking in to make sure it's not stuck in a corner or cleaning the same space over and over again. It's also got a very efficient motor and a 0.4 liter container - that's plenty of place to store all the dust and crumbs littering your floor.

You can also stop worrying about tidying up around your house before using the vacuum. The Eye 360 can travel over small obstacles to clean and move in between rooms.

How to get it

If you want to get your hands on an Eye 360, it's probably going to cost to you quite a bit. Dyson hasn't released the price yet, but other high-end robot vacuums can cost over $600!

Before you shell out that kind of money, you've got to know about the vacuum's one drawback: battery life. You'll only get 30 minutes of cleaning time per charge. But, it will return to its charging station automatically. There's also an Apple and Android app that lets you set cleaning cycles from your gadget.

It's also not going to be available in the U.S. for a while. Dyson is debuting the new vacuum in Japan in 2015. It'll be sold internationally sometime after that.

If you can't wait until the Eye 360 finally comes out in the U.S., you can always opt for one of Roomba's high-end robot vacuums.
