After an $8.2 million dollar investment in a robotics lab earlier this year, Dyson's latest cryptic announcement definitely makes me think we'll be seeing a cleaning robot soon. The company, known for its vacuum cleaners, released a 25 second video that was mostly static and people wearing lab coats.
With a marketing campaign like that, I'd better be shocked when "Project N223" is actually announced on September 4th.
Vacuums aren't the only thing that Dyson makes, however, and you've probably seen the company's bladeless fans or AirBlade hand-drying systems.
It all look future tech-y, and that's probably because the company's CEO James Dyson is a tech dreamer. Dyson said in an interview that "mastering [robotic vision] will make our lives easier and lead to previously unthinkable technologies."
His statements remind me of the team out there trying to teach Siri how to think.
While I doubt that Project N223 will end up being the robo-maid from The Jetsons, it might just bring us a step closer to life becoming a Hanna-Barbera cartoon.
