This amazing concept for a portable cooking and cooling surface could change the way we prepare food on the go - and even at home!
It works by using an extremely thin and flexible surface that can heat up and cool down to perform different tasks. The surface can fit about three medium-sized pans. It's so flexible that you can fold it over your container for complete coverage that transforms it into an oven or refrigerator.
The Electrolux Surphase would even have sensors that detect where your pan is located to save money on heating costs. It would also use thin carbon sheet called graphene to conduct electricity and serve as a chargeable battery to save space and keep the device portable. You can bring the Surphase anywhere with you just by rolling it up!
This is a great product idea that could make cooking at work or at a picnic a breeze. The concept was developed by Dutch designer Daan Hekking as part of appliance retailer Electrolux's Design Lab 2014 contest. It's a yearly competition that challenges design students all over the world to create fantastic new projects. Prizes include cash and internship opportunities.
This is why I love technology. You never know what great new inventions someone will come up with that can change the way we live our lives.
