The name IBM was once synonymous with business computing. Apple was its bitter rival, but mostly in the home PC market. Now, the two enemies are joining forces to release more than 100 mobile apps for business and enterprise customers.
IBM and Apple announced their partnership on Tuesday. The two tech giants plan to create a system of apps that use the cloud to provide productivity for businesses. When you think about it, it's a match made in heaven. Personal and enterprise gadgets have been merging over the past decade. You don't need different kinds of computers, tablets and smartphones for work and home.
More and more business people use iPhones, iMacs and iPads these days. They don't need PCs. On the other hand, Apple hasn't established the kind of reputation for enterprise technology that IBM has. You might not see the IBM logo on as many office machines as you used to, but the company is still going strong.
