Yesterday, Apple announced iOS 8 for iPhones and iPads and boy, were there some big developments.

There was the introduction of HealthKit and HomeKit, as well as some minor updates that will still make a big difference - one of them allowing third-party keyboards to be downloaded on iOS gadgets.

Android users are already familiar with SwiftKey, Swype and Flesky. These are the main third-party keyboard apps that will soon be available on Apple gadgets.

From Endgadget:

SwiftKey says it has "already started" porting its heavily customizable software to iOS; Swype tells Engadget that it "can't wait" to support Apple's platform. Fleksy, meanwhile, is going so far as to take sign-ups for a beta program and vows to be "one of the first" with a solution.

Will you be using a third-party keyboard on your iPhone or iPad? Let me know by posting in the comments below.
