Want Facebook to know even more about you? Your wish is granted!

Facebook has unveiled a new feature that helps you share and discover music, TV and movies by using your phone's mic to listen in on what you're up to.

As you update a status from your phone, the new feature will - if you enable it - listen to what's going on around you. It can tell if you're listening to music or watching TV, and it'll make that part of your update, without you typing. Or it can be your entire update.

You can decide who gets to know what you're watching, like you can with any post.

If you share music, friends will get a 30-second preview of the song.

Now, it doesn't say so, but I'm sure one thing this new feature will do is serve you up very targeted ads. It can hear that you like Pharrell? Well how'd you like to buy the latest album? And maybe one of those hats?

The new feature - strangely, it doesn't have a name - will be available on iOS and Android within the coming weeks, Facebook says.
