Now, GoPro is going pro. The camera maker has filed an initial public offering of its stock for $100 million.
Observers of the tech world keep fearing a bubble about to burst, but GoPro is having a go anyway.
[GoPro founder Nicholas] Woodman, who told Forbes he was entertaining the thought of an IPO last year, will hope that his company can be the exception and not the rule. The camera maker, which officially changed its name from Woodman Labs to GoPro in February, plans to list on the Nasdaq under the symbol “GPRO.”
GoPro is known mainly for its action cameras, which are small, weatherproof and mountable battery-operated cameras. Felix Baumgartner used a GoPro camera to record his space freefall in 2012. GoPro cameras are also finding use mounted to drones.
