Guess where your phone is most likely to be stolen

Do you remember this fun infographic I showed you a few weeks ago? It illustrates how your smartphone has never been more likely to get stolen.

In fact, nearly 3.1 million Americans had their smartphones stolen from them in 2013. Even worse, nearly 1.4 million of those phones were never recovered.

But where's the most popular place to steal phones? Lookout Security paired with IDG Research to find out. They even made a fun infographic too!

Here's the main highlights of what they found:

  • Don't leave your phone behind in public! 44 percent were stolen because the phone was left behind in a public setting;
  • 16 percent of stolen phones are taken from inside a restaurant; and
  • 40 percent of smartphone theft takes place between 12 p.m. and 5 p.m.
