Imagine that you're walking down the street and pass one of your favorite stores when your phone gives a little chirp. Pulling your phone out of your pocket, a notification is telling you that a pair of shoes you were looking at online are in the store, and they're on sale.
But this isn't science fiction, this little shopping notification is a reality, thanks to Google. That's right, Google keeps pushing the envelope with technology and coming up with more creepy-or-not features.
It's all part of the new Google Now integration that Google is rolling out on smartphones. If you have the Google search app on your phone, sign in and update your app. Google does the rest.
Google Now is supposed to anticipate your needs and give you little reminder cards to help you throughout your day. You can see what the traffic will be like and be alerted at the best time to leave to get home on time.
You can be alerted to grocery lists when you pass the store, which is handy, but is it just another way to track your purchase habits when you're offline?
