There was big news out of Microsoft today. I already told you about the plans to bring back the Start Menu in Windows 8.1. But on top of that, Microsoft demoed its latest mobile operating system Windows Phone 8.1.
Among the new features is a personal digital assistant named Cortana. Cortana is named after the artificial intelligence in the popular Halo video game series. On your Windows phone, she'll incorporate the best elements of both Siri and Google Now.
Microsoft V.P. Joe Belfiore shows off Cortana's incredible capabilities in this demo, starting at 1:50:
There's also some other cool Windows Phone features he showcases in the rest of the video. It's well worth a watch!
If Cortana is as smart as she seems in this demo, she's a real threat to both Apple and Google. She incorporates the learning capabilities of Google Now and implements them in a (slightly) less creepy way. She also appears to be a lot more helpful than Siri in carrying out personal assistant duties thanks to true multi-step search.
What do you think? Is Cortana enough to make you consider switching to Windows Phone? Comment below!
