Facebook is all about the future. So it should come as no surprise that the next big project Facebook is focusing on is bringing the Internet to everyone.
But creating a global network can be expensive. That's why a creative team has come up with the idea of solar-powered drones that can fly steadily above areas that need service. The trick is that they would have to fly above commercial air space but below orbiting satellites.
These drones would be able to stay in the air for months at a time. And by using laser technology that is similar to fiber optics, they could create a steady and fast Internet connection anywhere in the world.
So, Facebook asks an important question.
"What happens when the rest of us get access? It doesn't get twice as good, it gets a bazillion times as good. Imagine for the first time, humanity firing on all cylinders."
