Apple slipped in an update to its iPad lineup this a.m. The iPad 2 is gone. In its place is an update of the fourth-generation iPad the company started selling in 2012.
If you were on the fence about maybe getting yourself an Apple tablet, this may be the right time.
The thing still costs $399 for the basic, 16GB model. The improvements include:
- Apple's so-called Retina Display, a step up from the iPad 2's lesser display
- A high-end processor much more powerful than the 2's
- A Lightning port, Apple's next generation connectivity standard
