Now, Amazon is getting in on the fun. It’s been teasing for quite a while that we’d be able to change Alexa’s voice to that of actor Samuel L. Jackson. Well, the time has finally come.
Amazon’s celebrity voice program officially began this week. For just 99 cents, you can have Jackson respond to all of your Alexa requests. Wondering what the weather forecast is? No problem, Jackson has the answer.
You can even ask questions that are specific to Jackson. Ask him about the characters he’s played in movies or what he likes to do outside of his professional life.
How to enable the skill
Having Jackson take over as your virtual assistant is a new Alexa “skill.” To get it to work you need to enable the skill.
It’s very simple. Just say, “Alexa, introduce me to Samuel L. Jackson.” Or you can purchase the skill manually through the Alexa app. Remember, it will cost you 99 cents to enable, but it seems totally worth it.
Once you have it enabled, Jackson will be your digital assistant. Alexa’s original voice remain the default, so to get responses in Jackson’s voice you need to say, “Alexa, ask Samuel L. Jackson,” followed by your request.
Here are the steps to get the skill:
- Say, “Alexa, introduce me to Samuel L. Jackson.”
- Confirm your purchase with Alexa.
- Enable or disable explicit content.
- Ask Samuel L. Jackson for music, weather and more.
If you have kiddos in your home, you might want to pay attention to which version of the skill you use. There are two options: Clean and explicit versions. If you’ve seen any of Jackson’s movies, you’ll understand why.
