Samsung Note 8 teaser video reveals larger than life screen size

Samsung’s recent home runs with its flagship phones, the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus, suggest that the company may have just finally bounced back from the Note 7 crisis it suffered last year. The global success of these devices proves that you just can’t put a good man, in this case, a good smartphone company down.

But to overcome its “explosive” past and truly regain the consuming public’s trust, the company’s follow-up to the ill-fated Note 7 will have to, not only wow us, but to assure us that all its predecessor’s technical flaws that led to its demise have been resolved.

And Samsung isn’t making small talk about its next smartphone launch – the company is teasing us in a huge way.

The official teaser for the Galaxy Note 8 has just been officially released and everything about it is pointing toward a big leap forward – crossing out the old while moving on with the new and appropriately enough, it looks like it’s erasing the past.

The title of the teaser reveals as much – “Do bigger things” – Act. Leap. Lead. Innovate. BIGGER.- it’s almost a political campaign with that positive “Can Do” flavor that might just be the marketing push the Note 8 needs to win the consuming public’s vote.

Check out the teaser video and see for yourself.

What do we know about the Note 8 so far?

Well, for one, we definitely know when it will be unveiled. As revealed by the teaser, Samsung will unveil it at its own Unpacked event on August 23, way ahead of the traditional iPhone unveilings in September. (You can livestream the event at Samsung’s website.)

We also believe that the Note 8’s edgeless display will be 6.3 inches with a 2960 x 1440 resolution, trumping the Note 7’s 5.7-inch display, making it the largest smartphone display ever released by Samsung. It won’t retain the Note 7 display’s aspect ratio, though, rather it will follow the S8 and S8 Plus displays’ 18.5 to 9 width-to-length ratio.

Based on prior leaks, the Galaxy Note 8 will likewise adopt a dual-lens rear camera, a trend popularized by the iPhone 7 Plus. The Note 8’s dual-lens camera is predicted to feature a 12-MP wide-angle lens and a 13-MP telephoto lens.

As usual, it will come with the Galaxy Note’s signature stylus that can be tucked away on a slot on the smartphone’s side.

The hot question is this – what kind of battery will the Note 8 sport? Reports are saying that it will be a 3,300mAh battery that can be charged wirelessly or via the Note 8’s standard USB-C port. We’re hoping whatever battery issues Samsung had with the Note 7 won’t be rearing their ugly heads this time around.

Basically, leaks and rumors are saying the Galaxy Note 8 will just be a bigger version of the Galaxy S8 Plus.

Come August 23, we’ll finally know for sure.
