MORE iPhone and iPad security issues found – Update your device right away!

The iOS and macOS operating systems (OS) get updated pretty regularly. They typically come with new features to make your gadget more useful like Find My AirPods and Weather Reports. Most updates also patch vulnerabilities in the OS that have been discovered.

Last week’s iOS 10.3 update contained both improved features and security patches. Less than a week later, Apple is pushing another iOS update that you need to install ASAP.

Why you need to update your iOS immediately

For its customers’ protection, Apple doesn’t disclose, discuss, or confirm security issues until an investigation has occurred and patches or releases are available. The company is very thorough with its security, which makes it a little surprising that iOS 10.3 needs to be updated so soon after its release.

iOS update 10.3.1 was rolled out on Monday. Apple said the update includes bug fixes and improves the security of your iPhone or iPad.

More specifically, the update patches a critical vulnerability affecting Wi-Fi security. The flaw would allow nearby hackers to execute arbitrary code on the Wi-Fi chip.

According to Apple’s support page, a stack buffer overflow was addressed through improved input validation. For security purposes, you need to update your iOS immediately.

If you don’t see this as an over-the-air (OTA) update on your gadget, you should be able to get it through iTunes. Keep reading for update instructions.
