Microsoft’s Android Launcher lets parents track kids’ whereabouts

Kids are getting access to technology at a much younger age than ever before. Studies show that over half of all children between the ages of 8 and 12 already have their own cellphone. Almost 40 percent of children younger than 2 years old have used a mobile device for entertainment.

With all of this digital access, it’s more critical than ever for parents to monitor their kids’ app usage, as well as track their whereabouts at all times.

Now, with Microsoft’s new app update, parents can easily track their children’s digital habits and even keep tabs on where they are.

Microsoft Launcher now has parental features you’ll love

Microsoft has just added the location tracking and an app usage monitor to its Android “Microsoft Launcher” app.

Microsoft Launcher (formerly known as Arrow Launcher) is an Android customization tool that allows you to personalize your Android device, access your personalized feed and continue your work from phone to PC.

It also allows you to pin your most important contacts on your Android Home screen for quick access.

Although this pinning feature is already a great feature in and of itself, the new location tracking and app usage features will be a boost to parents who want to keep track of their kids.

These new features are currently available in the app’s preview version and it allows parents to check their kids’ last known locations and how much time they spent on which apps.

Better yet, if you have Microsoft family accounts set up, you can also monitor your kids’ app usage on Windows 10 and Xbox One.

The parental controls will also carry over to the Android Edge browser, meaning the websites you block on your Microsoft family account will be blocked on Android, as well.

How to get Microsoft Launcher’s new features

The new parental features for Microsft’s Android Launcher are currently in preview mode.

To try them out for yourself, just head on to the Microsoft Launcher page in the Google Play Store then simply install the app on your child’s Android phone.

Once installed, sign in with your child’s associated child account. (Steps outline below.)
