Netflix recently posted a job opening for an “Editorial Analyst (Originals) position. The job listing is now gone (probably filled) but it gave us a glimpse of what sort of duties Netflix has in store for this new job title.
According to its job description:
“Do you love movies and TV shows? Are you interested in sharing unique content with viewers around the world? We are seeking an entertainment-savvy analyst to help categorize television series, specials, and movies for our 100+ million users.
You will be tagging, rating, researching, and enhancing title-level metadata for the Netflix Originals catalogue [sic] in a high-volume, high-quality, deadline-driven environment. In addition, you will collaborate on special projects with cross-functional business partners, while striving to deliver delightful, trustworthy user experiences on a global scale.”
It looks like the job entails watching hours and hours of Netflix original shows to help categorize, tag and create descriptions for them. In short, this position sounds like a binge watcher/couch potato’s dream gig! If you already spend your day binge-watching Netflix, why not get paid for it?

It looks like Netflix also opened up Editorial Analyst positions for various languages like Spanish and Japanese. These have the same requirements as the Originals editorial analyst position except with a mandatory fluency in the assigned language.
