The big day is almost here. Apple will hold its annual event on Tuesday, September 12. This is when the tech giant typically gives all the juicy details of its upcoming new releases, like the latest iPhone models.
Since it’s the 10-year anniversary of the iPhone, we’re expecting some amazing new features. We’ve been detailing rumors about the new gadgets for months. Unfortunately, now that we’re only a few days away, more fears of a shortage of new iPhones are coming to light.
Will shipments of new iPhones be delayed?
The latest rumor deals with production glitches that occurred earlier this summer. Problems with manufacturing the new gadgets are said to have set iPhone production back about a month.
The company contracted to build new iPhone models has ramped up production in an effort to counteract the delays. Foxconn Technology Group is doing everything it can to speed up production, including paying bonuses to its employees who help bring in new hires.
Customers who order the gadget later this month could still see delays in shipping. This could be a disaster for Apple since it counts on these orders to come through over the holiday season.
Even with potential delays, Apple fans are excited about what could be on the way. There are expected updates to Apple’s iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, with new iPhone 7S and 7S Plus. We’re also expecting a premium model to be released dubbed iPhone 8.
The iPhone 8 is rumored to have a 5.8-inch edgeless OLED screen, but listen to this, it will be squeezed into the same form factor as the 4.7-inch iPhone 7. It will have ultra-thin symmetrical bezels around the screen with a small notch on the top to house the earpiece, camera and various sensors including the ones for its new facial recognition system.
Those are just some of the rumored new features, and they will come at a hefty price. The premium iPhone is expected to cost over $1,000. Hopefully, it will live up to the hype.
If the speculation of delays are accurate and you really want to get your hands on one ASAP, it’s critical that you pre-order it the moment it goes on sale. Previous leaks say pre-orders will begin either September 15 or September 22.
