If you have an iPhone you need this fix to a bizarre issue

Most Apple fans are pretty hardcore when it comes to brand loyalty. Many of them believe that the tech giant’s products are superior in quality and security.

However, we have seen its reputation take a hit recently with problems like this huge security flaw in macOS High Sierra. Now, Apple users are dealing with a bizarre issue that seemed to come out of nowhere over the weekend.

Keep reading to learn about the solution to this frustrating issue.

Are your Apple gadgets crashing?

We’re talking about a strange problem that started happening shortly after midnight on December 2. Apple said that iPhone, iPad and iPod touch users are experiencing unexpected repeated restarts of gadgets running iOS 11.

The issue appears to be stemming from apps that have local notifications turned on. A glitch in iOS 11 is causing gadgets to crash when it receives one of these notifications from an app. The device then restarts itself and some are seeing this happen repeatedly.

Luckily, Apple has already come out with a fix to the problem. Keep reading to find out what you need to do.

How to fix the problem

The first thing that you should do is try and update your gadgets to iOS 11.2. Apple typically releases iOS updates on Tuesdays but sent this one out early to resolve the crashing problem.

To update your iOS: open Settings >> tap General >> tap Software Update >> tap Download & Install >> tap Agree. The new iOS will download and install in about 20 minutes, depending on how fast your internet connection is.

If you are unable to update the iOS, turn off notifications for all the apps on your device, then update your gadget to iOS 11.2. Here’s how:

  • Tap Settings >> Notifications.
  • Tap an app, then turn off Allow Notifications (Tip: make note of which apps you allow notifications so you can turn them back on later). Repeat this step for each app.
  • Update your device to iOS 11.2. (Follow the steps I gave above.)
  • After updating, tap Settings >> Notifications and turn Allow Notifications on again for each app that you want to receive notifications for.

If you are still not able to update or the crashing problem continues after the update, click here to contact Apple Support.

The iOS update also comes with new features on top of fixing the crashing issue. It introduces Apple Pay Cash to send, request, and receive money from friends and family with Apple Pay.

Don’t give apps too much power, here’s how to control your apps’ permissions

Mobile apps are so useful and make our lives easier. Now for all these apps to function, they need a certain level of access to your phone’s system called permissions. Unfortunately, sometimes apps ask for more information than they really need. But can you do anything about it?
