3 cheaper iPhone X alternatives you can get

When Apple announced the iPhone, it was called the “smartphone of the future.”

It has the much-anticipated game-changing features like a 5.8-inch “edge-to-edge” OLED display with Super Retina resolutions, a depth scanning facial recognition feature called Face ID, wireless charging and better cameras including two rear lenses with Optical Image Stabilization.

Unfortunately, it has a “futuristic price” too. To get the iPhone X 64 GB, be prepared to shell out $999, and $1,149 for the 256 GB version. Note: iPhone X preorders will start on October 27 and it will be released on November 3.

If you’re excited about Apple’s new flagship phone but you’re having second thoughts about spending top money just to get the latest bells and whistles, don’t worry, you have options.

Click here to learn why you shouldn’t preorder the new iPhones if you want to save money.

If you’re an iPhone user but you’re willing to ditch the Apple ecosystem, you can always switch to Android and get similar features that are comparable to what the iPhone X is offering.

Here are the top three cheaper iPhone X alternatives you can get right now:

Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+

The Samsung Galaxy S8 smartphones, with their beautiful, almost bezel-less OLED displays, facial recognition, wireless charging and buttonless face, can go toe-to-toe with the iPhone X for a fraction of the cost!

Some may even argue that the S8 and S8+ OLED screens look even better with their curved edges. The S8 display is 5.8 inches while the S8+ display is even bigger than the iPhone X at 6.2 inches. The S8 displays also have a higher resolution (2,960 x 1,440) than the iPhone X’s Super Retina display (2436 × 1125 pixels).

Samsung’s flagship phones also support Qi wireless charging standards from both the Wireless Power Consortium (WPM) and Power Matters Alliance (PMA), while the iPhone X is only compatible with WPM charging pads.

The S8 line also has an iris scanner, fingerprint scanner and facial recognition (but the latter does not have the 3D depth scanning of the iPhone X’s Face ID system and can easily be fooled).

Price: Starts at around $425 for the S8 and $825 for the S8+.

LG G6 released its own bezel-less Android phone way before Apple or Samsung with the G6.

The G6’s 5.7-inch display has a sharper 2,880 x 1,440 resolution than the iPhone X and it likewise has a dual lens rear camera and wireless charging support.

Price: The LG G6 starts at $480.

Essential Phone

Another Android phone with a beautiful edge-to-edge screen that can rival the iPhone X is the Essential phone. Designed by Android creator Andy Rubin, the Essential has a 5.7-inch 2,560 x 1,312 display that’s sharper than that of the iPhone X’s.

Similar to the iPhone X, the Essential also features a notch (albeit smaller) on the top of the display. Compared to other Android smartphones, the Essential is free of bloatware out of the box and it even has an extra connector on its back for other peripherals like camera attachments.

Price: The Essential is cheaper at $699 and that even includes 128GB of space, twice that of the cheapest iPhone X at 64GB.
