Santa is getting ready to deliver presents around the world. It’s a long journey, and knowing where he is can be tough. Fortunately, the military keeps track of Santa’s progress. The tradition began in 1955 as the result of a typo. Sears released a promotion encouraging kids to call the retailer for Santa updates. The phone number was misprinted and calls were directed to the Continental Air Defense Command (CONAD).Hundreds of kids ended up calling CONAD, and the military personnel decided to play along. They gave out updates, and a tradition was born.
