You might not feel comfortable visiting your local bar or restaurant right now, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t have a good time. There are still ways in which you can have fun with family and friends.

Karaoke is a great way to entertain. Where there is a will, there is a way — and a karaoke app. If you miss performing at your favorite venue or want to impress your friends with your shower voice, have a look at the four best karaoke apps.

What do you get when you cross a singing app with a Facebook-style social element? The answer is Smule, a social singing app that features millions of songs.

Whether you prefer belters or soulful crooning, join up with friends to sing your heart out. You can practice and improve your singing alone, or you can join a group performance. The app is free to download on iOS and Android but also offers in-app purchases.

Claiming to have an “endless catalog” of available music, the app from Yokee allows you to perform, record and share your pitch-perfect rendition of popular tracks.

The app is available for iOS and Android devices. After choosing a song, the lyrics will be displayed, and it’s go time! Yokee features artists from around the world and has been downloaded over 100 million times.

Do you think you have what it takes to be a real pop star? Well, with the StarMaker app, you might just become one. With over 50 million users, the app features karaoke songs from hip-hop and rap to folk-rock and classic ballads.

It uses high-quality backing tracks and rolling lyrics to keep you in time, and you can even record and share your performance on social media. If you are feeling brave enough, you can also broadcast your singing live. It is available for Android and iOS devices.

The Houseparty app, available on iOS and Android, is a video chatting and communication tool. It allows friends and family to have video calls, but it recently added the function for karaoke.

With up to seven friends, you can perform any of 10,000 songs. If you want to set a theme for your karaoke night, you can do that too. When you select a song, all participants are shown on the screen with rolling lyrics at the top.
