In case you missed it, we've talked about SketchUp's free 3-D design software SketchUp Make before. It's a great alternative for people who are looking for an alternative to computer-aided design software but don't want to spend money on professional tools yet.
For on-the-go and on-the-fly 3-D modeling, however, SketchUp's other free software is even better. Since it's all browser-based, you can work on your designs from virtually anywhere!
Read on and I'll tell you how to access this simple yet powerful web-based 3-D modeling tool.
My.SketchUp is the browser version of SketchUp's 3-D modeling software. Impressively, although it's all web-based, meaning there's nothing to install, it still shares many features and functions of its desktop software counterpart.
Like SketchUp's other software offerings, My.SketchUp has the same intuitive push-and-pull system for sculpting your 3-D creations. Although there's a slight learning curve, once you get the hang of it, you'll be designing 3-D images in no time.
As a web-based tool, another big advantage of my.SketchUp is this - you can launch it on your smartphone or tablet's web browser and use its touchscreen to sculpt on the go. You can drag, draw, rotate, stretch, color - anything you could possibly do on a desktop, but with your fingers instead.
Note: To save your work, you'll need to sign up for a free SketchUp account using your email or Google account.
Currently, My.SketchUp is still in beta preview mode but if you're looking for a simpler alternative to SketchUp Pro you can take on the go, it's well worth trying.
Like with SketchUp Pro and SketchUp Make, you can also upload and modify 3D designs from SketchUp's 3D Warehouse.

Looking for a specific design for inspiration? With 3-D Warehouse, the world's largest source of free 3-D models, you can find any 3-D model imaginable. And since it's publicly sourced, you can upload your designs or use anyone's shared designs too.
To use my.SketchUp, just click here or the blue button below to access its page. It's a web-based tool so there's nothing to install. Just hit the red Launch button on the page and design away.
