Microsoft Office remains the most popular productivity software around. It's still the gold standard for document creation, data analysis in spreadsheets and multimedia presentation creation. It's not free, of course, and looking for compatible software to use to edit the occasional file can be a pain.
We have talked about the free open-source office program LibreOffice before and we know it's a great free alternative for Microsoft Office.
In case you didn't know, there's another free Microsoft Office alternative out there and it even looks and feels like Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
It's called the WPS Office Suite and here's what you can get with the Free version:
Writer is the WPS equivalent of Microsoft Word. The best thing about it is that it can read, edit and save in a variety of DOC and DOCX formats. This lets you collaborate, share and work on documents both in Writer and Word.
It looks and feels like Word, too so anyone familiar with Microsoft's default will feel right at home with Writer's user interface.
Other useful features include a Word to PDF converter, automatic spell checking, multiple tabs and document encryption.
Spreadsheets is the Excel counterpart of WPS. Again, it mimics how older Microsoft Office Excel looks and operates and it can open, edit and save in a variety of XLS and XLSX formats.
