Have you heard of the New Economy? It's the one we're in right now, where people like you create your own source of income, using the Internet as your starting point.
If you drive for Lyft, for instance, you're a self-employed driver setting your own hours, but sharing your income with Lyft. You benefit from its name recognition, apps and other resources. Or, maybe you rent out your home with Airbnb when you're out of town, or sell your crafts on Handmade at Amazon or Etsy.
If you have products that you want to sell, another resource to get started is PrestaShop. It's a free, open-source platform where you display your products and sell them.
If you make clothes, makeup, or products for the home, try selling them on PrestaShop, even if you sell your products on other websites. PrestaShop has 250,000 shops selling their products, and 850,000 members. Give it a shot, you've got nothing to lose.
Note: PrestaShop is free, and it doesn't take a cut of your sales. According to the company, its partnerships with Google, PayPal, and other companies, "support the progress and growth of PrestaShop."
PrestaShop is a professional-looking site and it's fairly easy to use. Once you sign up, PrestaShop will guide you through the process of customizing your site, loading images of your products, putting in prices and more. (See download instructions next page.)
