Do you watch anime? Those are Japanese cartoons that sometimes have complex storylines, but they're best known for characters with big eyes.
Anime has a big following. There are conventions and a whole subculture of people who dress up as anime characters. Now, you can draw anime cartoons and many other types of artwork on your computer.
With Krita, you start by selecting Desktop or Gemini for touch screens. Then select a template such as newspaper-style cartoons. Or you can start with a blank screen. There are loads of colors, paintbrushes, pencils, erasers and cutting tools.
You can let your mind wander as you create images. Be experimental because you can erase what you don't want to use.
There are advanced editing tools, too. For example, you can resize your art creation, change its shape and its borders. You can pixelize an image, blur it or sharpen its look.
Note: Krita is an open-source system, meaning users can go in and tweak its coding. The upside to that is Krita will get better over time. The downside is some of its functionality can be spotty.
