Edge is part of the Windows 10 upgrade we've been telling you about. Windows 10 is an operating system that, for most users, is a vast improvement over Windows 8. Although, we've been warning you about some Windows 10 bugs, and vulnerabilities.
In fact, for that very reason, some people are holding off on downloading Windows 10 until its next upgrade. The idea is: Let other people deal with viruses, bugs and other headaches. "I'll catch up with Windows 10.1."
If you're in that camp, there's a downside to waiting for an upgrade. You can't get the Web browser Microsoft Edge without Windows 10. Or, at least it hasn't been easy to get it.
Now there's a cool way to test out Microsoft Edge, or see how your website looks on it without downloading Windows 10. This option comes directly from Microsoft, and it's to grab a Windows 10 virtual machines with Microsoft Edge.
Microsoft has one available for free on its Microsoft Edge development site. Just click on the appropriate download link below, and you can operate Edge in the Windows 10 environment. You'll need a virtual machine program. Kim explains how to set one up here.
