Sooner or later, the day will come when your trusty computer has a problem. But the first step to figuring out what's wrong, how to fix it and, most importantly, how to save everything on your computer, is to know all the details about your individual system.
That's where this handy download comes in. It will analyze and list all the parts, pieces and accessories that make up your computer. But you shouldn't wait until something is already wrong with your machine to find out all of this handy info.
Get the app that could be the first step to keeping your computer happy and healthy as long as possible.
The aptly named program, Speccy, will search through your computer and give you a detailed report of every piece of hardware.
It tells you manufacturers, model numbers and more. Speccy will even give you speed ratings that tell you how well those parts perform in your PC.
While some of this information can be found using Windows' built-in tools, Speccy gives a much more detailed report on the CPU, motherboard, RAM, graphics card, hard drive, optical drive and audio support systems. Plus, it gives you the information in one place.
If your machine is underperforming, you can use Speccy to check for malfunctioning parts, too. It gives temperature readouts for each component that has a thermometer.
Note: This download is for PCs only.
To download the program, navigate to the Speccy download page using the blue button below. Once you're on the Speccy website, click the green "Download" button at the top of the page.
You will be redirected to the Speccy download options section. You have the option to purchase a professional version of Speccy, but unless you're using it for business purposes, the free version of Speccy will work just fine.
On the left side of the comparison chart in the Speccy Free box, find the green text link labeled "Piriform.com" and click it to begin your download. Your download should begin immediately.
I also recommend using the default installation settings. There are no add-ons or bloatware programs to avoid.
Speccy will run automatically when the installation is complete. Everything you need to know about your computer is in the Speccy window.
How to safely delete data forever on your PC or Mac
When you delete a file on your PC, or on a Mac, by sending it to the "Trash," do you think it's gone forever? Think again. Just like a physical trash can, the contents of your PC's Recycle Bin or Mac's Trash Can are still around and can easily end up in the wrong hands. Tap or click here to learn more.
