Home movies are a lot of fun to make. With a little work, you can create a professional looking video. Editing tools are getting easier to use all the time.
If you're using Windows, you have a good one built right in. It's Windows Movie Maker. It shows up in every version of Windows since Windows Me. But that ends with Windows 7. Microsoft has decided to release something new.
It's called Windows Live Movie Maker. So, it's not the most creative name. But Live Movie Maker offers some noticeable improvements. And it works in Windows Vista and Windows 7.
Live Movie Maker adds new transitions, effects and captioning tools. It can produce movies in widescreen format. You can also upload videos directly to YouTube. But most importantly, it handles many popular HD video formats.
(Live Movie Maker is part of the Windows Live suite. It will try to install Photo Gallery, Messenger, Writer and more. All are fine programs. But during installation you can unselect any programs you don't want.)
