Countdown to Christmas with Google Santa Tracker

Countdown to Christmas with Google Santa Tracker

You know your kids or grandchildren will start counting down the days to Christmas soon, if they haven't already. Each night, you'll hear something like, "How many more days until Christmas?"

You can help make their next couple of weeks a lot more fun with a Santa Tracker. For the past several years, it's been easy to go online, to keep tabs on where Santa Claus and his elves are, and what they're up to.

One of those sites is from Google, which has gone live with its annual Google Santa Tracker. In the final hours leading up to Christmas morning, your kids and you will be able to see where Santa Claus and his reindeer are, and how long it'll be before he arrives at your house.

But, in the meantime, Google has made its Santa Tracker a lot of fun. Kids can play games all around Santa's Village. Adults can make a donation to a worthwhile charity like Libraries Without Borders, Khan Academy and more.

Click on the three-line menu logo at the top left, then Santa Tracker for Educators, then Season of Giving at the bottom of the page. That takes you to a page where your kids can play with a virtual coloring book, and you can link to any charity you want to learn more about.

That Santa Tracker for Educators page is a valuable resource for teachers looking for ways to keep their kiddies busy before the Christmas break. You can find lesson plans, coding exercises and more.

Elsewhere on the site, your kids can see what's going on at the North Pole Airport, and explore a map to learn about Christmas traditions around the world. For example, did you know that Australians head out to the beach on Christmas to play cricket and cook prawns on a barbecue?

Starting on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, they can watch an all-day, all-night live Santa tracker. Your kids or grandchildren will fall asleep feeling excited about Christmas morning. Hopefully, they'll doze off early enough so you can help Santa put gifts under the tree.
