Peer-to-peer sharing is all the rage these days. Think about it. There's a peer-to-peer site for just about everything.
There's Lyft for getting rides, there's Airbnb for a place to stay, there are numerous sites for car sharing, and for bike sharing ... the list gets longer almost every day.
Now, there are even peer-to-peer sites for camera equipment, both for photographs and video.
ShareGrid and KitSplit
Simply browse the available gear to rent, book it, then meet up with the gear's owner to exchange the items, as well as tips and tricks on how to use the equipment.
Conversely, if you're looking to make some extra spending money, you can easily sign up to rent out the equipment you aren't using with either site.
Better yet, each item can be insured for a short period of time, so you won't have to worry about your expensive camera equipment being damaged or stolen.
Here's where the two sites differ: KitSplit will let you rent drones and cameras, even Oculus Rift devices. ShareGrid meanwhile, can have your items shipped directly to you, if you're in New York City.
Caveat: So far ShareGrid is only available in certain cities: Los Angeles, New York, Atlanta, Chicago, San Francisco and Seattle.
KitSplit is available in New York City, Washington DC, Philadelphia and Boston.
