No matter what your winter has been like, whether cold and snowy or crisp and sunny, spring is a time for change. Once the temperature starts warming up, everything brightens up.
Green leaves start emerging from brown, leafless trees and shrubs. Brightly colored flowers break through the dirt, filling the landscape with fresh scents.
If you're lucky enough to live near a botanical garden, you can walk through manicured landscapes. They arrange flowers, shrubs, trees, and paths in such a way that you can spend the day walking past blooming flowers.
Plus, they use rocks, walls, and water features to add dimension to their gardens. It's beautiful to look at, but overwhelming to think about doing yourself.
However, you don't need to be intimidated by beautiful gardens. In fact, the site Decoist has ideas for 30 gardens that you can do yourself, from terraced flowerbeds to rooftop gardens. (See photos this page and next page.)
