The next time your kids or grandchildren tell you there's nothing to do, take them to a museum. If you have a few kids to take with you, a museum can quickly break the bank.
A lot of museums charge $10 or more for kids, and at least that much for teenagers. While some museums ask for donations, as opposed to a fixed admission price, getting past those donation collectors can take forever. And, of course, you feel pressured to fork over some money, anyway.
However, there are free or inexpensive museums, including art museums, history museums and science museums, in every state that you'll enjoy, and so will your family. Just think about walking through a great museum, like the Smithsonian Institution's National Air & Space Museum, when you were a kid.
Throngs of people pile through Air & Space's doors every day for a reason. In addition to being free, as all of the Smithsonian Institution's 19 museums are, it's incredibly fun and informative.
