Read classic comic books without spending a dime

It's been around 75 years since America fell in love with superheroes like Captain Marvel, Superman and Captain America. Hailed as the "Golden Age of Comics," the late 1930s into the 1940s were full of dramatic tales of crime fighters with secret identities and super powers.

Not only are hard copies of these beloved comic books hard to find, but select issues could set you back thousands of dollars. That is, unless you check out Comic Book Plus.

Comic Book Plus claims to be the Internet's largest collection of public domain comic books, and it could very well be true. There are thousands of titles and issues to choose from in a bunch of different categories. Choose from pulp fiction, classic comic books, adventure, action, romance, mystery, crime, horror, sci-fi, westerns and dramas, just for starters.

To get started, you can browse by title using the search bar, or you can browse selections by category. To view the comic, click on the book's title, followed by the issue you want, then scroll down to view a PDF of the comic in your browser. If you want to download a hard copy, you will need to create an account.

Read all about classic characters from Captain Marvel, Brenda Starr, Andy Hardy, even Abbott and Costello. There are so many cool, old and vintage comics here, the hard part is finding where to start!

Let me know which reads were your favorites by posting in the comments below. Enjoy!
