Scary Edgar Allen Poe stories, just in time for Halloween

Scary Edgar Allen Poe stories, just in time for Halloween
Open Culture

There's nothing better than watching a scary movie or reading a spooky story around Halloween. So, in the remaining days until Halloween, check out what Open Culture, a great site for public domain properties and other educational resources, has to offer this season.

Just in time for your Halloween party this weekend, you can listen to five hours of Edgar Allen Poe stories, read by legendary spooky voice and movie villain Vincent Price and Basil Rathbone of Sherlock Holmes fame. But there is a catch, thanks to Spotify.

Included is the timeless classic "The Raven" as well as other great short stories like "Tell-Tale Heart" and "The Haunted Place." There are 20 stories in all and you can find them all by clicking here.

However when you get to the landing page, you'll see an embedded Spotify page. Click on the play button to listen to your selection. If you're a Spotify member, you'll be listening in no time.

Otherwise you'll be prompted to create a free Spotify account. The accounts truly are free, however if you want to remove ads and have more freedom over song selections, paid options are also available.

Or, if you're on the go just type in "Basil Rathbone" or "Vincent Price" in the search bar of the Spotify app for Android or Apple in order to listen.

Happy haunting!
