Kim's Opinion: Apps and tech to keep kids safe trick-or-treating on Halloween

It's a night for ghosts and ghouls, but it's also a night for a little technology.

Tomorrow, around 40 million kids will be out trick-or-treating. Fortunately, you can use tech to keep your kids safe.

Let’s start with the kids' phones. Of course, you can use Find my Friends to see your little goblins. Better yet, download the Life360 app. Not only do you see where the
kids are located on a map, you can also set up a virtual fence in the neighborhood. If the kids wander outside that geo fence, you get an alert.

Use the Nextdoor app to see what’s going on in your neighborhood. Tap to get the scoop on who is passing out candy, who’s not or the must-see haunted house.

Finally, for the tech savvy, set up your Amazon Echo with your smart camera, and doorbell. Get notified when there’s someone at the door, turn on the lights, play spooky music, or make a custom announcement, "Sorry kids, we’re out of candy."
