One of the nation’s largest personality-driven news and entertainment organizations is seeking a strong, seasoned consumer tech writer to generate new, exciting and informative content for our website, electronic eBook guides and subscription-based digital publications. This is a tremendous opportunity to work in a growing media environment.
This isn't just a job, and having a passion for consumer technology and digital trends is a must! For example, is the date when Apple is set to unveil the next iPhone marked on your calendar? Do you enjoy changing the settings on your router for the fun of it, and losing track of how many streaming services you subscribe to? Are you the type of person who tinkers with competing smart speakers to get Alexa and Google Assistant to talk to each other? What about trying to create your own Frankenstein computer using parts from a PC and a Mac? If you're always in-the-know about the latest tech and what's coming in the future, then this role is for you!
Of course, the ideal candidate will also have a degree in journalism or communications, is tech savvy, proactive, has experience in media and is able to provide accurate, highly readable copy on recurring tight deadlines. Experience writing attention-grabbing, SEO-friendly headlines, broadcast writing, and strong computer and gadget knowledge is also required. You must have the initiative to submit ideas, research what's trending online and offer recommendations for topics to feature on our website.
The Kim Komando Show is broadcast nationally to over 400 top radio stations with 6.5 million weekly listeners originating at the 24,000-square-foot Komando Broadcast Center in central Phoenix. Kim was the first national female talk host to discuss consumer electronics since 1995. As a consequence of her show’s success, Kim has continuously given back.
For many years, Kim has provided devices to better people’s lives in a segment that she calls “random acts of kindness.” Last year, to highlight just a few beneficiaries, Kim sent a smart TV to a disabled veteran who was unable to leave his home, a laptop to a non-profit aiming to stop the opioid crisis and taught a young man dealing with progressive muscular dystrophy how to build a computer with the parts Kim provided.
Kim's weekly column appears nationally in USA Today, FoxNews and in more than 100 daily newspapers. We send more than 12 million newsletters each week. We also produce books, consumer buying guides, podcasts and videos.
