WestStar Multimedia Entertainment is a national broadcasting company that is home to The Kim Komando Show. The Kim Komando Show for radio is syndicated and broadcast nationally, distributed via satellite to more than 400 top radio stations with 6.5 million weekly listeners.

Kim was the first national female talk host to discuss consumer electronics since 1995. The program originates at WestStar’s at the 24,000 sq. ft. broadcast center in central Phoenix. Over the past 6 years, WestStar has experimented with a television version of this successful radio program.

Beginning November 2018, The Kim Komando Show will premier on Bloomberg Television on a custom designed set at WestStar’s production facility (custom set an created by Chris Runnels. Lighting designed by Justin Garonne, both of Innovative Show Design).

The program is shot as an 11-camera HD production (recorded with 8 cameras in isolation for precise production/editing). Much of the new program will consist of original content interlaced with some segments of the radio program.

Our successful candidate must possess extensive knowledge of news and entertainment programming, and have an in-depth understanding of production within that environment. The position requires strong writing skills, the ability to oversee and coordinate all creative elements to support the content and scheduling crews. The Producer must be able to communicate and lead the team through daily deadlines and delivery schedules.

Key Activities

•Pitch, develop, and write topical tech news scripts with quick turnarounds and produce viral news content daily

•Lead talent and crew for taped video productions by organizing the program elements; including graphics, sourced footage, and any necessary components to accomplish the task

•Responsible for delivering quick-turn, high-priority projects while executing consistently high-quality production value

•Copy edit scripts and work with other staff and production personnel to improve and refine the elements of programs to conform to specific quality standards and time requirements

•Work with post editors on final production

Education & Experience/Certifications

•Bachelor’s degree or higher

•At least 5 years of experience in television production as a producer with a passion for knowledge of current events, technology news and trending topics

•Experience producing stories at all stages of development from pitch to air

•Solid experience writing, booking, story development and strong visual skills

•TV News experience preferred

Skills and Abilities

•Must be proficient in shooting, writing and editing with Final Cut Pro

•Creative track record demonstrated through an audition reel or prior producing and production projects

•An avid consumer of cable news, business news, entertainment programming and current events

•Solid experience writing, booking, story development and strong visual skills

•Excellent and proven writing skills for television news/feature reporting and producing

•Strong leadership skills to interface with co-workers

•Proven time-management skills

•Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the internet

•Desire to find creative solutions to challenges

•Strong problem solving skills and creative development competency & ability to conceptualize ideas

•Ability to achieve metric goals & meet deadlines while working under pressure in news/entertainment environment with tight deadlines
