Do you ever feel lost trying to navigate exactly what services and procedures your original Medicare plan covers? Then you're not alone. The coverage landscape continues to change, and no one wants to show up for a procedure that was previously covered only to discover it isn't covered anymore.
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has been updating with a new, modern, "eMedicare" initiative which hopes to make discovering your plan information much easier.
As Medicare coverage continues to grow year over year, it's estimated there will be over 80 million beneficiaries with coverage by the year 2030. Plus, as the numbers continue to climb, the CMS wants to cut down on the growing coverage-related phone calls each year. One method of discovering it could be searching the Medicare website, but, what if there was an easier option?
Discovering Medicare coverage on the go may be easier than you think
I don't know about you, but, if there's an app for that, and it's easier, I plan to make the most of it. Part of the eMedicare initiative is an app for both IOS and Android called What's Covered. Not only is this app FREE, but it was also created to allow those with original Medicare coverage to easily search for important information while on their smartphones.
When you search using What's Covered, it details items and services covered by Medicare Part A and Part B along with providing you the general costs, coverage and eligibility of your plan. The app will even give you a list of covered preventive services.
It's easy to download, access, and is just one new feature for Medicare's eMedicare program. So the next time you're about to head out to the doctor's office or pharmacy, be sure to check your plan to see what's on your plan and how you can save the headache of paying the bill for what isn't covered.
