Your smartphone is a very, very personal gadget. It has your private text messages and emails, photos of your family and friends, connections to all of your social networks and lots of other information that is unique to you. It's even got millions of your own germs. It's gross, but it's true.

So why not make your phone reflect your own uniqueness and personalize it to your individual tastes with the Zedge app? With Zedge, you can customize your ringtones for specific people, set different notification sounds, get new backgrounds and even download some pretty cool, live wallpapers.

There are hundreds of wallpapers to choose from, ranging from humorous and funny, to intricate designs, optical illusions and popular memes. There are signs and sayings, pets and animals, logos and hundreds of other wallpapers in 18 different categories.

Just click on the wallpaper you want download it. The wallpaper will be saved to your phone's camera roll and from there, open it up in the camera roll and select the option to save the image as wallpaper.

With Zedge, you can also add personalized ringtones for each of your contacts. Set the "Wicked Witch of the West" theme music for your boss, Make "Everybody dance now" the tone for your best friend, or the Peanuts theme song for your family, or what about "Crazy Train" for your sister? The possibilities are endless.

Adding personal ringtones to your phone with Zedge is a little bit more complicated than selecting wallpapers. Before you can select a ringtone, you will need to sync your phone or tablet with the most recent version of iTunes. Sound complicated? Don't worry. Zedge walks you through the process step by step. But here are the steps anyway:

  1. Find the ringtone you want to use
  2. Connect your phone to your computer
  3. Select your phone in the upper left part of iTunes, select Apps, scroll down and select the Zedge app under File Sharing section.
  4. Select your ringtones and save them to the computer
  5. Click and drag your saved ringtones back into iTunes
  6. Select your phone in the upper left hand corer, go to Settings>>Tones>> Sync Tones>>Select your tones>>Apply Sync.
